Empire State Future

Description

Empire State Future is New York's first and only statewide smart growth advocacy organization. ESF was launched in 2007 to address the fact that New York State's cities, suburbs, and rural communities are all suffering from inefficient and uncoordinated development policies and practices. Downstate, rapid growth and development strains government, ecological, and individual/family resources. Upstate, land development at many times the rate of population growth degrades the health and viability of cities, suburbs, and rural communities alike. These patterns have raised our governments and families’ costs and our high taxes even further. ESF and its coalition work to reverse a compounding fiscal nightmare by focusing and building on existing public investments in infrastructure development, and services. We seek to help the state and its residents recognize the benefits of development done the right ways, in the right places.
