The Africa Grantmakers' Affinity Group (AGAG) is a membership network of foundations that currently fund in Africa or are interested in funding in Africa. AGAG was established as a forum for foundations to promote increased and more effective grantmaking in Africa through building and sharing knowledge about the Africa grantmaking experience. Each year, AGAG holds an annual retreat, the only gathering for grantmakers working in Africa. AGAG produces reports of the annual meeting, conducts research on funding trends, and co-sponsors meetings on grantmaking in Africa. In 2003 AGAG published "Making a Difference in Africa: Advice from Experienced Grantmakers," in collaboration with the International Programs Department of the Council on Foundations. Member services include a website, listserv, and conference call and in person networking opportunities.
