Inner Resilience Program

The mission of The Inner Resilience Program is to help cultivate the inner lives of students, teachers & schools by integrating social and emotional learning with contemplative practice. Founded in 2002 in response to the effects of September 11 on New York City schools, our aim is to help adults and students alike claim their schools as mindful, caring communities of learning. Our program consists of professional development workshops, weekend retreats, classes in stress management, as well as yoga and other contemplative practices, educational workshops for parents, and training in our K-8 curriculum: Building Resilience from the Inside Out. We currently operate programs in public schools in New York City, South Burlington, Vermont, and the Youngstown and Warren school districts in Ohio. The Inner Resilience Program receives support from the NoVo Foundation, the Kalliopeia Foundation, the Fetzer Institute, the Philanthropic Collaborative, and individual donors.
