Nonprofit Property Management Services Focused to End Homelessness in San Francisco

Issue Area:
Geographical Scope:
DISH, a fiscally sponsored project of Tides, works closely with San Francisco’s Department of Public Health to develop and provide tailored nonprofit property management to city subsidized residential hotels which provide permanent supportive housing for more than 450 formerly homeless adults.
Through its work, DISH demonstrates the healing effects of a home and stable community and reinforces the self-worth of persons who have not had access to a clean place to live.
DISH has strived to recruit, retain, and promote -- at all levels -- a diverse staff and leadership that are representative of the demographic characteristics of the clients they serve. When asked about the partnership, Doug Gary, co- director of DISH, explains “DISH just celebrated its fourth anniversary and we simply couldn't have done it without Tides. Tides Center provides an impressive array of services and its staff is fantastic. I've worked in the nonprofit sector for more than 25 years and every nonprofit I've served has struggled most with the administrative side of things. We are proud of our mission fit with Tides and grateful for Tides’ help, leadership, and friendship.”
