HOPE Collaborative

Fostering Community Change Together

As a direct response to the health inequalities in Oakland, California, a coalition of organizations, institutions, and community residents united to become the HOPE Collaborative.  Leveraging the strengths and resources of its diverse membership, the HOPE Collaborative addresses food and fitness disparities in Oakland neighborhoods through advocacy, engagement, and research strategies.

Funded by a three-year $1.2 milliion W.K Kellogg Foundation grant, the HOPE Collaborative focuses resources on providing equitable access to affordable, healthy, locally grown food and to safe and inviting places for physical activity and play throughout the city, but particularly  in underserved Oakland neighborhoods.

The neutral platform and operational infrastructure provided by Tides enables the multiple organizations of HOPE Collaborative to focus on their collective vision and impact.
