The Center for Digital TV and the World is dedicated to producing new forms of global television and multimedia. The Center’s work includes professional field production overseas and in America and specialized teaching, training and advising for young and mid-career journalists.
The Center’s reporters tell stories of ordinary people. Their video works have been published each year on the Web site of The Washington Post since 2002 and since 2012 on the Website of The New York Times.
The Center gives fresh voice to people who live around the world and explores their links to diaspora communities across America. The Center has gained a strong reputation as a model of excellence in international multimedia reporting. It has methodically prepared a new generation of journalists to cover Asia and the world in new media, print and broadcast. They work across the globe for top media organizations, from CBS News in New York to Reuters in Beijing, to The Wall Street Journal in Hong Kong.
The Center is an outgrowth of the Digital TV and the World special project created at the University of California, Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism.
