The mission of Sierra Forest Legacy is to engage citizens, communities, and coalition members in the healthy management of Sierra Nevada forest ecosystems to protect and restore the region’s unparalleled beauty and natural values. We apply the best practices of science, advocacy and grassroots organizing to safeguard forest lands throughout the Sierra Nevada.

SFL’s work is unique because we bring the support of key regional and national member groups along with grassroots activists to coordinate a combined, focused, and sustained effort. SFL is a science based organization with a tremendous amount of combined experience and the knowledge necessary to successfully lead and focus efforts to protect and restore the region. Today, Sierra Forest Legacy maintains a strong positive reputation for its ability to build and maintain coalitions among diverse interests and is considered a highly credible source regarding forest management and conservation in the Sierra Nevada.
