This Pride month, as the Supreme Court ruled to allow states to ban medical care for trans youth and a national suicide hotline for LGBTQ+ youth was shuttered, nonprofits led by and for LGBTQ+ communities have risen to meet the moment. From advocating for LGBTQ+ rights to maintaining life-saving crisis intervention phone lines, these organizations fill crucial gaps to make sure that youth are protected and able to live authentically. They’re not backing down, and neither can we.
This June, we’re calling on our community to support the groups working to support LGBTQ+ youth — and to keep supporting them throughout the year. Tides is proud to be the 5th-largest funder of LGBTQ+ issues in the US, and we’ve put together a short list of current or former Tides Foundation grantees working to build a world where LGBTQ+ youth can thrive. Support them if you can, or find a local organization to support directly in your own community. LGBTQ+ advocates give their all every day to protect LGBTQ+ communities. It’s time for funders to do the same.
